Apply for the Si Se Puede Corps! Deadline- Sep. 1st, 2014

The Si Se Puede® Corps is a fellowship opportunity that provides hands-on immigration law training and an opportunity to impact the lives of thousands of farm workers and low-income immigrants. Join us and gain immigration legal experience, become part of the farm worker movement and help us continue Cesar Chavez’s legacy!

The Si Se Puede® Corps is a full time, 6 month-1 year, leadership and legal training fellowship. The program will provide participants an opportunity to spend time directly with farm worker communities and be introduced to the farm worker movement. All fellows selected to the Si Se Puede® Corps will have a strong commitment to social justice and immigrant rights.

Throughout the program the Si Se Puede® Corps fellows will be trained on basic immigration law and also a wide range of topics relating to immigrant and farm worker communities.

Gain Immigration Legal Experience
    ● Receive extensive training on immigration law and work in close partnership with BIA-accredited representatives (these are individuals that are authorized to practice immigration law by the Board of Immigration Appeals).
    ● Gain direct hands on experience in immigration legal assistance and community education.
    ● Develop leadership skills in inquiry, legal analysis, problem-solving, communication, and consensus-building.
Become A Part of the Farm Worker Movement
    ● Participate in a week-long orientation training at the Cesar Chavez National Monument in Keene, CA.
    ● Opportunities to meet and interact with special guests including UFW President Arturo Rodriguez, members of the Chavez family, political and community leaders and other people interested in Social Justice.
    ● Be a leader in our “Con la Union de Campesinos Tendremos Papeles!” campaign.
Continue Cesar Chavez’s Legacy
    ● Participate in regularly held “Causa” sessions to learn about grassroots community organizing, advocacy, farm worker movement history, issues affecting rural communities, etc.
    ● Gain experience in community presentations and providing services in historically under served low-income rural areas.
    ● Empower farm workers and immigrants to make systemic change in their communities.
Other Advantages
    ● Receive a modest monthly living stipend of $1,200/month, as well as reimbursement for all approved travel and expenditures. Housing and transportation accommodations may be made on an as-needed basis.
    ● Si Se Puede® Corps Certificate of Completion
    ● Letter of recommendation.
    ● Access to networking opportunities.
    ● **A few selected Si Se Puede® Corps fellows will have the opportunity to go to DC to do advocacy visits and meet with policy leaders.

Si Se Puede® Corps fellows will be placed in one of the following locations:

    1. Coachella, CA
    2. Oxnard, CA
    3. Bakersfield, CA
    4. Delano, CA
    5. Madera, CA
    6. Stockton, CA
    7. Fresno, CA
    8. Salinas, CA
    9. Santa Rosa, CA
    10. Pasco, WA
    11. Hermiston, OR
    12. Phoenix, AZ
Expectations and Requirements
    ● The Si Se Puede® Corps is a full time, 6 month minimum commitment with possibility of extension to 1 year, placed in one of our site regions (weekend and evening activities expected);
    ● Participants must be18 or older;
    ● Able to start on Sept. 15, 2014 for a week long orientation and training at the National Cesar Chavez Monument in Keene, Ca;
    ● Proficient language skills in English and Spanish preferred;
    ● Ability to travel in region assigned;
    ● Detail oriented and able to follow instructions;
    ● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
    ● Self-motivated and able to perform both independently and in conjunction with team members;
    ● A “Si Se Puede® " attitude.
